Kanal Playground - Court-Circuit I - Play With Me
Brussels - 2014

From Monday to Wednesday, Cureghem market, in the Abattoir, is making way for exceptional new playground equipment! The hall of the Anderlecht slaughterhouses was transformed into a play world. Court Circuit is a graphic game painted on the floor. It is a set of lines, shapes and colors.

This project was designed for the Anderlecht slaughterhouse in the context of Kanal Festival Playground. The Anderlecht slaughterhouse is used as a market place for four days a week. A graphic play of lines and surfaces were painted on the ground, to transform the giant hall into a playground. The drawings on the floor resemble the lines of sport fields or games and invite the users to set up and invent their own games and rules.

The interplay of lines is the result of various wok shops that Dear pigs did with schools and after-school care KIK at the site in Cureghem. With the children, drawings were made on the floor and a research was done to find out which shapes give rise to new creative play forms. The result is a set of lines and shapes that allow one to create there own game.
